Dennis is the son of Dennis P Crowley and his wife Mary Moraski. He went to the Xaverian Brothers High School, located in Westwood, Massachusetts, from which he matriculated in 1994, and then enrolled at Syracuse University, and graduated with a BA degree from university`s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, after which he continued his education at New York University`s Tisch School of the Arts, receiving M.P.S master`s degree in Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP).

While in Tisch School of Arts, Dennis got his first job, working as a researcher for Jupiter Communications, and then joined the mobile app provider Vindigo, serving as a product developer. Little by little his knowledge increased, and his ambitions became greater, to the point where he co-founded Dodgeball with the help of Alex Rainert in 2003. Two years later, his website was bought by Google, which significantly increased Dennis` net worth. He stayed on the project until 2007 when Google discontinued the website, and he started looking for a new business venture.

Not long after, Dennis joined Naveen Selvadurai, and the two co-founded Foursquare, which was launched in 2009.
